Fall Student
Art Show:

watercolor by Taylor Bongiovi

Sunday,
October 24th

The show will be here at the studio from noon until 3:00pm. Everybody in attendance will receive ballots and asked for their favorite works of art in 30 categories. So invite all your friends, relatives and neighbors! The show is open to all past and present students of Art Is Our Passion.

If you'd like to be a part of the Fall Show, please start bringing us your original class artworks, or finish what you are currently working on! There is no entry fee, but we ask that they be framed or matted. We can mat your art here for $10., for work 9x12", with comparable pricing for larger sizes. If you're not sure which piece to bring, we'll be happy to help you choose which one is your best.

Last May's show had close to 400 people in attendance. We counted 378 ballots for 149 pieces of art entered in over 30 categories. Deadline for entry forms and artwork is Friday October 15, 2010.

See if you recognize yourself or somebody you know by looking at the pictures of May's Art Show students, families and guests:

  Mosaic Workshop:
Portraits on a bottle

We have re-scheduled this workshop for Saturday and Sunday Nov. 12 and 13th. This was done so that students may create art to give as holiday gifts.Memory_jug

"Memory Jugs" are a special kind of portrait created from small everyday objects and little saved treasures such as school medals, figurines, Match Box cars, marbles, keys, a broken watch, buttons and toys, game pieces, shells, jewelry and bits of ceramics to name a few of the objects that can be used to represent you or a loved one or a favorite pet or even your favorite color.

In this class of Pique-assiette mosaic, the students are encouraged to bring as much from home as possible. The students will first arrange the pieces within an outline drawing of the bottle one section at a time.  When a section is designed the putty will be applied to the bottle and the pieces can be squished into the putty.

Renowned artist Jolino Beserra  will direct this unique workshop. We will supply one-gallon glass jugs that have been etched and are ready to mosaic.  If you have a great bottle, teapot or vase that is of a similar size to a one-gallon jug, we'll be happy to prepare it.

No art experience necessary to participate in this workshop! We have scheduled this very special class event for Saturday and Sunday. Nov. 12 and 13th, please call Tom at 818-991-5514 for more information.

Make-Ups...
If for any reason you can't make it to class on a given day, you MUST let us know as soon as possible. It is vitally important to our financial well being that we maintain (and not exceed) our policy of 4 students per instructor, per class.

Make-ups WILL ONLY BE GIVEN when advance notice has been received prior to the missed class.
You can always email us at: info@ArtIsOurPassion.com or call us 24/7 at 818.991.5514.Your timely notice will allow you to receive a make-up class, most often at your most convenient day and time. Calling in will also allow space for other students to do their make-ups.

That's it for now. We'd like to thank all of our students for their continuing hard work, and wonderful art. We saw some truly great art created this past summer.

We look forward with great anticipation to see what our returning and newest students will assemble for our fall art show celebration!

Sincerely,

Tom Violand
